Primafila
Feature, Italian — By DiegoM on April 10, 2010 at 1:50 amPrimafila is one of a strip of restaurants lining the upper terraza of Buenos Aires design. It is an Italian restaurant offering gourmet pastas, meats and pizzas and the atmosphere is nice, a clean modern looking place with some booths, and various shades of brown.
I went to Primafila on a Saturday afternoon to take advantage of their “tea for 2” that they offer between lunch and dinner. I had been once before and ordered something similar, and decided I would like to try it again.
I must say, I was very, very impressed. The “tea for 2” is $44 pesos, and comes with your choice of tea or coffee (any style of coffee you’d like), tostadas, small sandwiches and a selection of sweets. The sandwiches were good though nothing to excite me – there was one that was ham and cheese, and another that was egg salad with blue cheese, an interesting combination of flavors. The tostadas are made from both white bread and a whole wheat /rye bread that seems to have more grains and nuts that it does flour, and was very good. For toppings, they offer jam and a homemade cream cheese, which was excellent – so light it was nearly fluffy, and it had just a hint of sourness to it. Far better than any store bought Casan Crème.
The selection of sweets on this particular day were mini scones, brownies, apple berry crumble, and cheesecake, and they were to die for.- The brownie was easily the best I have tried in Argentina – very rich chocolate flavor, and ultra moist in the center. The cheesecake and crumble were equally delicious, each one surprising me with its flavor. The mini scones were to die for, with just a hint of lemon flavor, and topped with crunchy sugar. Every single one that I tried could easily be considered one of the better bakery desserts I have tried in Buenos Aires.
Although I did not try the pastas or any of their “real food,” I would highly recommend this spot for an afternoon lunch. $44 pesos is a steal for lunch for 2 at Buenos Aires design, and especially when you consider how good the food was. The atmosphere outside is relaxing and perfect for lunch, giving you a view of palm trees and parks and making it easy to love Buenos Aires.
