Evita Museum Café

I had Heard From multiple people that the Evita museum´s café has a wonderful atmosphere, and finally got around to going myself.  The restaurant has its own separate entrance,  so you do not have to pay admission to the museum if you just want to have lunch, dinner, or even just a coffee.

Although I was expecting greater things with the atmosphere, it is quite nice.  The patio outside is enclosed by an ornate stone and metal fence, with ivy crawling up the bars.  One side of the building is quite ugly, so it is better to face the outside, which is a much more pleasant view.  There is also a section that is inside, though the real draw of this resto/café is the patio outside.

The food is a mix of Italian, Porteño, and French cuisine (variety of crepes).  They have the typical crepes that with chocolate or dulce de leche as a topping, or you can go with a plainer option – topped with melted butter, sugar and a light orange syrop.  The latter is what we decided to order, and at 8 pesos a crepe, it is quite a bargain.   It was delicious, especially the orange syrop.  We accompanied these crepes with a latte and a cappuccino, both your typical Argentine style coffees.

The service was the worst part of our afternoon.  We had to call over staff twice just to get a menu.    Once we had our menu, we waited and waited and eventually had to call someone over to order.   We never actually figured out who our server was, I suppose it was the person who brought us the bill at the end and gave us change.

Seeing as how the atmosphere is decent, and we really enjoyed the crepe, we´d go back for a second try, and perhaps have lunch of dinner.  The poor service may have been an anomaly, but I wouldn´t say this is a place you have to come to.

Bottom Line:   A nice quiet place to go drink a coffee on a patio outside, and accompany it with something sweet.
