Etchart Privado Torrontes

I recently picked this wine up on a whim. I was in Carrefour, this wine was on display and only $11 pesos, and I thought, ya, I could use a couple more Torrontes at home. It’s from the Cafayate Valley, and it’s Etchart, meaning there was a good chance it would be decent.

At first, the wine came off as very tart . However, after it opened up a bit (about 20 min) I also found it had some strong honey undertones, and a fairly long citrusy finish. It is not a typical Torrontes, in the sense there are no floral flavors, nor bitter undertones. Although it is not a complex wine, it is well-balanced, and a good buy for $11 pesos.

Winery: Etchart
Wine: Etchart Privado Torrontes 2009
Region: Cafayate Valley, Salta
Price: $11
