Take Out/Delivery — By DiegoM on April 24, 2010 at 3:32 am

The Tafi is a small take-out restaurant offering traditional and Argentine dishes, such as Locro, Empanadas, Tamales, Humitas as well as the usual Pizza and Tarts.  With the arrival of the winter-like weather, I was in the mood for some Locro, so decided to try it out here. I also ordered a meat empanada.

The food was delivered in good time, probably about 30 min after I ordered it.  The helping of Locro was a decent size, certainly enough for one person, though not enough for two (as take out dishes often are).  It was a locro that was very heavy on the beans, and a little light on the meat/sausages, which was unfortunate.  However, it had a rich meaty flavor, and in general was fairly tasty.

The empanada was mediocre – the filling was very good, nice sized chunks of meat, some onion, and a sauce with a slight sweetness to it.  However, the pastry was no good, which is just as important as the filling.

The entire meal costs me $20, which I wouldn´t say is cheap or expensive.  I would order from there again, just because it is hard to find take-out that serves Locro and other traditional Argentine dishes.  However, if you are looking for great take-out, you will not find it here.

Bottom Line: Decent spot for ordering food if you want something a little different, but nothing special.
