El Cuartito
Restaurant Reviews — By DiegoM on September 6, 2009 at 2:09 amKnown as one of the places serving the best pizza in town, I couldn´t wait to try this place out. It´s located right at the border of the microcentro and recelota, close to Santa Fe and 9 de Julio.
My first thoughts were that it is definitely a traditional Argentine place. The waiter was old and dressed in a white dress coat (very porteño), the decor was all typical of an Argentine pizzeria. The walls are adorned with sports paraphernalia, mostly football , but other sports as well. And, to top it off, the crowd was very typical….your average Argentine, mostly male, a few couples, there to watch some football on TV or to share a meal with friends.
The menu is also 100% Argentine. They serve mainly pizza and empanadas, and the selection of flavors isn´t anything special. I ordered a Fugazzeta and a Napolitana, which are about as common as it gets when it comes to pizza here. The prices aren´t cheap, both of them costing over 5 pesos each, which is pretty pricy for a slice of pizza in BA. It was all worth it though, when I tried the pizza. The flavor was excellent, they put just the right amount of each ingredient on each slice, and the crust was excellent. I can´t say it was the best pizza I´ve had in Argentina, I think I still prefer Guerrin. However, it was very good, I´d definitely go back.
Service was good, friendly and professional. This is a great place for big gatherings, or if you want to have a pizza and some beer.
